Robert Maloney Lasik Vision

Dr. Robert K. Maloney has consulted for Premier Laser Systems for development of the Erbium-YAG system for corneal refractive surgery, VisionRx.com for the development of advanced miniaturized ophthalmic instruments, and Calhoun Vision, Inc for the development of a light adjustable lens implant. Dr. Robert Maloney has contributed more than 100 periodicals, abstracts and reports to professional journals and delivered more than 200 invited lectures on five continents.

Dr. Robert Maloney of Maloney Vision Institute was the first doctor to perform LASIK in the western portion of North America. Now, Dr. Maloney continues to advance the field of lasik eye correction as a leading ophthalmologist in the U.S. conducting Lasik, Verisyse, Conductive Keratoplasty and VISX. Dr. Robert Maloney, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at UCLA and a member of the U.S. Department of Defenses Joint Civilian Orientation Conference, has operated on U.S. soldiers who have been deployed to the Gulf Region.

He has contributed more than one hundred articles, abstracts and reports to professional journals and delivered more than 200 invited lectures on five continents. Dr. Maloney was associate editor for the Journal of Refractive Surgery from 1991-95, on the international editorial board of the European Journal of Implant and Refractive Surgery in 1995 and is currently a reviewer for The American Journal of Ophthalmology; Ophthalmology; Archives of Ophthalmology; The Journal of Refractive Surgery and Ophthalmic Surgery and Lasers.

 


Before establishing Maloney Vision Institute, Dr. Maloney was associate professor of ophthalmology at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Robert K. Maloney graduated with an AB in mathematics summa cum laude from Harvard University in 1979. Dr. Maloney graduated with a MA in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford (England) University as a Rhodes Scholar in 1981 and as a MD from the University of California at San Francisco in 1985. Dr. Maloney was an intern at UCLA in 1985-86, a resident at the Wilmer Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore from 1986 to 1989 and was a Heed fellow in cornea and refractive surgery at Emory University's Department of Ophthalmology in Atlanta from 1989 to 1991.
